Which Film Schools Should I Apply To?

Female from PA

about 3.5 GPA
top 25% in my class

SAT's
reading - 510
math - 490
writing - 470
total - 1470

I plan on taking the ACT's in October.

Major in Film
I want to be a Cinematographer/DP (whichever you prefer to call it), so I don't want a school with Film Studies as my only option.

I would prefer to stay on the north east coast to go to school, even though I know there are a ton of film schools on the west coast.

Unfortunately I only have 3 schools so far that I would like to apply to,

they are:
New York University
Boston University
Emerson College

I would think that NYU and BU are Reach schools and Emerson a Good, but I really have no idea. They could all be Reach schools for all I know.

If I don't find enough schools on the east coast I would be reluctantly open to USC or Northwestern, but I know there must be more schools out there that I just haven't found.

I appreciate any help or advice you can give.

Oh also,

I took 2 honors classes in High School and am currently taking an AP class.

Also over the summer I took the 4-week Film making program with NYFA in NYC.

Your scores are below the 25th percentile for Emerson in all three categories, so it's a reach--NYU and BU would be super-reaches. Aim lower at schools where your SAT scores put you comfortably in the 50th percentile, and try to get them up!

Yes I understand that my SAT scores are not that good, but I don't know of really any good Colleges that I will like and I think I would be accepted into.

Some schools to check into are VCU, Pace, Rowan, URI, St Johns, FDU, Suffolk, Adelphi, Seton Hall and Hartford.

Oh Thanks! most of them I've never herd of so I'll have to check them out, I recently looked at Pace's website but I didn't think they had any film. I'll have to look again!

does anyone know much about MassArt's film program? Online it looks like a good program but I've never seen it mentioned on here...
