Which frat parties the most?

I was planning on joining a fraternity and was wondering which fraternity throws the most parties. CMU has a reputation for not having a huge party scene, but I figure if I join a good frat, I would get the best of everything (good education + good time). I have heard Theta Xi parties a lot. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

Check them out during orientation week.

you will figure it out your first week, dont worry about it until then

by party, i think you meant study. because in cmu, frats don’t drink and party, they *****ing study, study and study.

Contradictory to what Makeba seems to think, there’s a definite study hard play hard mentality among the frats. To the point where CMU has somewhat of a binge drinking problem. So parties do happen, but they’re concentrated to the weekends, because you’d be shooting yourself in the foot if you partied during the week. For the most part, if you get into with a social partying crowd and befriend the frat guys, you’re all set for parties.

I’m personally partial to Sigma Nu. Very easy going, laid back group of guys, and they great parties. During the last Carnival, they went through about 8,000 cans of beer or something crazy like that.

And if you get bored of the CMU party scene, go make friends with Pitt students and go to their parties. We mustn’t forget there’s a massive 30,000-student university just down the street…

It’s not like we don’t ever party, but it’s not at the forefront of everyone’s mind and isn’t shoved in your face. So you have to seek it out yourself. But once you find it, you’ll be fine.

PIKA also parties a lot. Kap Sig (Kappa Sigma) also loves to drink.

thanks for the responses

you’re right, some of the chillest guys on campus (in my opinion) are in theta xi…but yeah, check it out during orientation, their reps are pretty well-known and you’ll realize which ones to steer clear of
