Should I use the college board gpa scale? Because if I do, I have a 3.7 GPA, but if I use the naviance scale, I have a 3.5. Would a college care which one I use? Or would they invalidate my application if I used the College board one?

The GPA you list on the Common Application (and for other schools that have their own application) should be identical to the GPA that is on your high school transcript. Students should NOT recalculate their GPA, as colleges will do that for you. If your high school grades on a 1-100 scale, you select that option on the Common App and list your numerical grade. If your high school uses a 1-4, 1-5, 1-8, etc GPA scale, you select that option and list your numerical GPA as it is listed on your high school transcript, so that your application is in sync.

Which scale does your school use on your transcript? That’s the one you should use.

@gibby Oh my gosh, thank you! I would’ve made a huge mistake!

@saif235 My school uses a 100 scale and I have a 90.74 as of right now.

You can use a 100 point scale on the common app.

do you report UW GPA or W GPA?

@RunningForLife My GPA is UW. Idk what u report though

Report whatever is on your high school transcript. If your high school transcript reports UW, use that. If your high school transcript lists weighted, report that. It’s THAT simple. If you’re an international student, you have to trust that Admissions has been doing this for years, in some cases 300+ years, so they understand your countries grading system and you should report whatever GPA in whatever format is on your high school transcript.

@gibby : what if your HS transcript lists both?

@runningforlife: Then talk with your guidance counselor and get their recommendation.

On the common app you list both your weighted and unweighted GPA in whichever format your school uses.
