I can't choose between Cornell and Penn. I mean ive looked at everything and for me their both tied, so as a tie breaker i think im going to go to the one with a better social life. I wanna know which school has hotter girls, better parties, and is overall more "fun". Don't get me wrong i know im going to be working my ass off where ever i go, but im a work hard, play hard type of person. So which one, Penn or Cornell?

Have you been accepted to both Cornell and Penn? Did you visit both schools?

You're asking in the Cornell forums, so obviously Cornell.

Noober i asked in both forums so i could hear from both sides

Well I think people in the Penn forums are going to say Penn, and people in the Cornell forums are going to say Cornell...

to me, ithaca beats penn's location. not in the most fun neighborhood...that must have an effect on social life. im going to be a freshman next year so im not sure....but i have not heard good stories about penn's location

I had sorta a related question...I'm a little worried that a lot of activities at Cornell are gonna deal with snow. Snow is great and all...but it gets old to me after a while. Would people who aren't obsessed with snow feel left out...or am I being crazy?

it's not like we ignore the hundreds of buildings on campus and hold every event outside.

Penn's not the place to go to avoid the cold and snow either.

college life at Cornell, in general, is better because Ithaca is a University town...also, since Ithaca is so isolated and there's nothing much else to do, students let loose by partying hard...Greek life dominates freshman and sophomore year...and the bar scene is amazing for the rest of your college experience

i dont go to Penn, but i can only assume that in such a big city, there's clubbing and whatnot...if thats your scene

at least ithaca is safer than w. philly...

but it didnt even really snow that much this year than in the past. coming from the DC metropolitan area, we do get snow, we do get blizzards, but nothing like ithaca is used to. the thing i had to adjust to was that just becuase it snows an inch doesnt mean that school is cancelled. you will still go to classes and you will still go to parties. for girls, its practically torture to walk to a party in the snow in our heels and skirts/dresses. lol

I have a friend at UPenn law right now who went to Cornell undergrad and she says going out in Philly is always a hassle....she has to take a cab to go to the bars and whatnot. If you live in Collegetown, going out is never a hassle. Takes me 5 seconds to get to rulloff's and johnny o's (though I don't frequent them much).

The only downside for the bar scene is that they close at 1.....for those of you under 21 some frat is hosting something...especially during the fall

is there clubs / dancing anywhere in cornell or in ithaca?

My friends who visited UPenn said that the greek scene was much worse. The greek scene at Cornell is amazing...I'm pretty sure it's the 2nd biggest in the country. So if u are looking for social scene I'd say Cornell. Almost 14,000 rowdy college students all stuck together on the same campus...it's gonna be wild. And if u join a good frat then u'd mix with the best sororities and that would solve the girl problem. So that's the social scene run down...

bump (10char)

bump.......

Hi dominikidd- I took some time to look at your past posts, and noticed that you identified yourself as a high school sophomore. Why don't you try to visit both schools before the fall of your senior year and get a feel for the social and academic scene you are the most comfortable. I went to Cornell for undergrad and Penn for grad, and I can tell you that even today... they are both extremely social schools but very different. It depends upon what you like to do for "fun".
