Which has a better social life, Cornell or Penn?

I can't choose between Cornell and Penn. I mean ive looked at everything and for me their both tied, so as a tie breaker i think im going to go to the one with a better social life. I wanna know which school has hotter girls, better parties, and is overall more "fun". Don't get me wrong i know im going to be working my ass off where ever i go, but im a work hard, play hard type of person. So which one, Penn or Cornell?

only one of the two is called "the social ivy"

big hint: it's this one

I was accepted to Penn ED only this year so I can't say with firsthand experience, but based on what I've heard Penn has "hotter girls, better parties, and is overall more fun".

Plus, the environment at Penn is more suitable to having a social life. Major city vs. out in the middle of nowhere...you tell me.

I have visited both Penn and Cornell so I can say from experience that Penn seems like one would have more fun there.

And remember college admissions is not a one-way street. You say you need to choose between Penn and Cornell. But who says you're going to get the option to pick. You might have the decision of where you're going made for you by the admissions counsel. You might only get into Penn or Cornell, or you might not get into either.

But if you do end up getting into both I'd definitely chose Penn.

Have you considered Dartmouth? Hot Girls, Awesome Parties. The work hard, play harder mentality is practically their motto.

BUT, I agree with Penn over Cornell.

My s is a sophmore at Penn and I have another son that is now looking at Penn and Cornell too. Penn has a great location in the city, my s goes out to hockey games, Phillies and other sporting events, they go out to dinner in the city, work very hard but I hear of a lot of frat parties on the weekend, being in the city gives you endless possibilities.... I loved Cornell when we visited but worry about the weather and location too.

you'll be able to see WAY more concerts in philly too!

. . . and go to fantastic museums; visit amazing historical sites; stroll through interesting, historic, and picturesque neighborhoods; select from hundreds of great restaurants (over 200 sidewalk cafes in Center City, alone); etc., etc.

Honestly I concur that Dartmouth might be the place for you. Incredibly tight student body, tons of parties, big weekends every term, lots of "campus spirit", etc. Dartmouth invented work hard, play hard.

if dartmouth invented it...vandy perfected it ;)

Dartmouth? Home of the war on fun?

I definitely ran across some chart... maybe on IvyGate... revealing that students are 14 TIMES more likely to get written up for drinking/partying at Dartmouth than at Penn (by far the most lenient of all the ivies when it comes to things of this nature). Food for thought.

Dartmouth students might get written up a lot, but much of this has to do with how much fun there is. Besides getting written up is pretty meaningless.

We should rank the Ivies

In terms of on campus social life (my opinion):

Dartmouth, Penn

Princeton

Brown

Cornell

Yale

Harvard, Columbia

I definitely agree with that ranking slipper. Since Dartmouth and Penn have great social life, but through different means. Dartmouth is hugely on-campus, and Penn's is hugely off campus (local bars). The difference is, if you get caught, Dartmouth slaps you on the wrist, but the Philly police throw you in jail.

ridonkulous0 do you even go here?

"she doesn't go here!"

lol

West Philly police do NOT throw people in jail for alcohol. They're ridiculously lenient because they have actual hard crime to go after. I've literally walked down the street in broad daylight carrying bottles of alcohol...they absolutely do not care.

bump (10char)

bump.......
