Right now I have been admitted to Michigan State University, Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), Colorado State University, Washington State University. Now I am undergoing the hardest part of the process... Which has a better Zoology program? I want to focus my studies in conservation specifically.

I would suggest that you look through the academic programs for each and scan the range of courses they offer. Also look at the faculty and see what their research interests are to see how they mesh with yours. I graduated from the zoology dept at MSU many years ago, and at the time there were very few required courses for the major, which offered great flexibility for a pre-vet major but may not have been as good for a budding scientist. I’m sure that’s changed, tho, and I’ve heard the dept is among the strongest of its kind now.

You’ll also want to consider that most of these state schools won’t offer much in the way of aid for an OOS student, so that may influence your choice as well. Likely you’ll be going on to grad school anyway, so it may not matter much where you do your undergrad as long as they have classes and faculty that interest you and opportunities for undergrads to participate in research.

Good luck!

Thank you. I will look into that do my homework.
