which looks better on the app

350 hours of hospital volunteering
112 hours of shadowing a doctor (clinical experience)- seeing surgeries and stuff
and helping a hospital achieve one of its goals
working in a pharmacy for a week- number one compounding lab

vs.

250 hours of hospital volunteering
summer internship at Berkeley summer labs

honestly, it doesn't matter which option you choose, its what you make of them that counts. I know you've probably heard this alot, but seriously, when it comes down to deciding, I don't think the admissions officers will care that you worked at a lab versus shadowing a doctor. Many people have done activities similar to shadowing and been accepted, and many people (including me) have worked in a lab and been accepted. So in the end, just choose what you would like to do most, and then go with it. In your application, you can highlight whatever it is you've done and expand on it in the interview, so you can really show your enthusiasm for medicine.

but just for the record, i'd go with the shadowing...i would personally have liked more clinical experience, but chose to do research. I can't say that I regretted it, but I believe I'm more of a clinically oriented person.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

thanks man really helpful :)
