TJHSST (Thomas Jefferson) is by far, hands down, the best high school in the country. I don't go there, but my brother does, and this year alone they are sending 14 kids to Princeton. Also, in terms of SAT/PAST/AP Scores/ Getting into Elite colleges, TJ beats the rest by a mile. Look them up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me. Also, Dave Ghrol went there before it was a magnet school , adding to the prestiege (lol).

My friend goes to some ritzy school in DC that ambassador's, senators, and "important" people's children go to. I can't remember the name though.

It's probably Sidwell Friends.

Anyways, Georgetown Prep (represent!) is a damn good school, and our athletics are top-notch (though we're no Dematha, but they recruit).

In New Jersey... I'd have to say WW-P North. I'm just a tad bit biased. :P

I envy all you who go to really good schools. Only one county in NJ has magnets (or at least magnets worth talking about). And everything else is pretty... plain.

Go Hunter! I love the small community and how it's very easy to become friendly with EVERY single person in your grade. Most teachers are good too...although there of course some incompetent ones in every school. The windows bother me, but after 5 years I think I'm getting over it. Lol. Stuy sucks. ;p

st.xavier high school in cincinnati....consistently the most nmsf's in ohio with around 27-30 each year. they also have won the most athletic state championships in ohio high school history. The last 5 years, the average act has been 28 and average sat has been in the low 1200's...not bad for a school of 1400 boys.

Choate Rosemary Hall and Phillips Exeter.

How about "Mystery School X"

Thomas Jefferson has the highest average SAT and AP scores of any school on the country. How can anybody compete with that? Also, A lot of these schools, like Exeter and Andover, have rish kids, not necessirly everyone who gets in is smart. At TJ EVERYONE is really, really smart. Besides, you can't argue with numbers.

I thought I decided that were weren't going to mention Cho-- ...oh never mind.. Whatever lol :)

Bronx High School of Science in Bx, NY, is hands down the best high school in the U.S.

Well, I AM somewhat biased, but other than that..

Everyone knows that the best high school out there is the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. i suggest you apply.

In no particular order:
Stuyvesant (NY)
Bronx Science (NY)
Great Neck South (NY)
New Trier (IL)
Princeton (NJ)
TJHSST (VA)
Bishop (CA)
Beachwood (OH)
Highland Park (TX)
Newton North (MA)
Evanston (IL)
Shaker Heights (OH)
Lynbrook (CA)
Monte Vista (CA)
Ithaca (NY)
Whitney (CA)

bronx science represent!

have YOU been to a ghetto school???

ok then.

im sorry to let all of you down but CLARKSTON HIGH SCHOOL in CLARKSTON GEORGIA is the best high school in the country. our football record is 0-16. 12 of our 169 seniors got into college. nachos everyday. BEAT THAT. mumbles alwayztalkinaboutyourdamnprivateschoolsnoonegivesadamn...

"My friend goes to some ritzy school in DC that ambassador's, senators, and "important" people's children go to. I can't remember the name though."

"It's probably Sidwell Friends"

Or St. Albans. Big shot Democrats send their kids to Sidwell, Republicans go to St. Albans. Or at least that's what I always heard.

I live in the DC area and my middle school is the feeder to TJHSST and I must say that it is terribly overrated. I've looked at the Wikipedia statistics, and you notice how most (almost all) of the achievements they have are test oriented--
SATs, National Merit (btw, VA has a relatively low qualifying score, take that into account), AP tests, USAMO etc etc. The fact is that TJ is a very numbers-oriented school, and until recently the admissions process was extremely test score oriented (it is less so now, but still...) and all the kids who get in there are superb testers. FCPS also preps kids for tests like no other school system in America, so you must take all that into account. For statistics not test oriented, TJ lags behind to an extent. Consider: Montgomery Blair, with its exponentially smaller Science Magnet program, sends more kids to Intel STS than any school in America (that includes TJ) not named Stuyvestant.

Also, for the record: I got into TJ so don't try the "UR Jus bitter maynnee" argument on me, I CHOSE to go to Andover OVER TJ. For those who argued that TJ's numbers prove TJ the best school in America consider this: prep schools like Andover, Exeter, St Paul's, etc, accept kids for many different reasons than simply academic excellence: athletic prowess, artistic ability, special talents, diverse backgrounds etc. You don't have to be a wonderful tester to get into Andover. You do for TJ.

Please remember though, that I am a big fan of TJHSST and I'm not trying to take anything away from the wonderful institution. My point is simply that, while TJ is a great school, calling it "the best in America, hands down" is a gross exaggeration. Thank you.

holler for Stuyvesant <3

"st.xavier high school in cincinnati....consistently the most nmsf's in ohio with around 27-30 each year"

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050918/NEWS0102/509180338/1058/NEWS01----reports 23 total this year

in a school of 1500-1600, 23 out of a class of like 380 or so ends up giving you like 6% nmsf's

Compare that to a school like Seven Hills in your own city which ranges 15%-25% nmsf's each year

Umm obviously Central Catholic High School in Massachusetts. my school. aha maybe not THE best, but its really good. Colleges like us anywayL:) at least Harvard and the rest of the ivy league lol.

fyi townsend harris is loads better than stuy :D

but it doesnt matter cause i realized steveo68 is obviously right
