<p>The best place to ask is the UIUC forum. In the navigation on the left, go to “Colleges”, then go to “I” (not “U”).</p>
<p>In general, private residence halls are worth the extra money if you can even begin to afford it.</p>
<p>The residence halls in Champaign, e.g., the “Six Pack”, should be avoided at all costs. This complex has a high rate of alcohol use and a generally bad atmosphere. I’m being diplomatic here.</p>
<p>ISR is closest to the Engineering buildings. However, it’s two towers with men in one and women in the other. Some people find ISR to be excessively quiet.</p>
<p>Don’t rule out PAR and FAR because of the distance. In many ways, they’re the least bad of the University-owned residence halls.</p>
