Which Hotel in your opinion is the best?

What title says. And when i say best, i dont mean cheapest or most luxurious. I mean the best overall hotel in terms of distance to duke, quality, and price.

definitely not the hilton, since it's connected to paris =)

the holiday inn express about a mile from east campus is really great. - good price, very clean, complimentary breakfast. its where my parents usually stay when they come into town.

That Holiday Inn Express (the one on Guess Rd) is great! I've stayed there at least four or five times. (visit to duke, before move in at the beginning of some semesters) Its a great hotel for a rather affordable price and its really close to East campus.

Washington Duke

Haha...no. Avoid the Howard Johnson on hillendale rd off west campus.

Hampton Inn near campus overbooked by 8 families on move in night my son's year...and the town was sold out. Misery!
For bargain hunters..we prefer the La Quinta Inn..very new and clean and in a safer location than some near some good dorm supply shopping locations next to a Toyota dealership. The old fashioned Hilton is really OK..needs an overhaul but I like it fine. The Marriott Courtyard is also just fine. There is a new Sheraton chain upscale hotel at the South Point Mall.

We almost always stay at the Holiday Inn Express when we visit S1 at Duke. It is close, well-priced, and nice--very friendly staff!

Washington Duke! It's basically walking distance but Im pretty sure you need a car to get to the major stores. Im gonna be a freshman at Duke next year and I am staying there for a couple of days before I move in (since I live in Cali). I loveeeed it there when I visited and the location is perfect!

Wash Duke is tops but out of our budget most of the time. We stay there in off season weeks whenever they have some reduced options.

If you are willing to drive 40 minutes, check out the Fearrington House. Amazing hotel with incredible cuisine.

http://www.fearrington.com/house/

Otherwise, Washington Duke is pretty nice. Not quite as quaint and special as Fearrington, but much more convenient.

Millenium -- very close to East Campus
Homewood Suites --- Mt. Moriah Road (allows pets!!!!!!!)

Definitely La Quinta. Best rates, clean, two good locations. The one mentioned above and there's also one in the Research Triangle Park just a few minutes away. It has been completely redone and is really quite nice.

The Washington Duke is realllly nice, especially since it's on campus, but I personally think it's way too pricey. My family always stays at the Marriot on Foster(I think that's the road..) which is about 1 mile away.

IMO, Washington Duke offers the most in terms of location and quality. The added benefit for me was the attached Duke Faculty golf course (also used by the golf team)!
