Which internship is more impressive?

Hi, I was offered an internship from two different organizations. The first is a biotech institute part of the University of Maryland (University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute) and the other is a genetics research institute (JCVI: Home).

I think that I will gain much more research and lab experience with the internship sponsored by the state university, but I also think that its less prestigious than an internship with the latter-mentioned institute (since it is a private organization and less high school students intern there than at the university-sponsored institute).

Which one would better exhibit future potential for a high school junior (rising senior)? Or, which internship would you take and why?

Take the internship most likely to teach you that “most prestige?” is the wrong question.

I would say the one at Maryland, since with experience you can write better/deeper essays. And as to prestige, it won’t matter. It’s all about being able to prove to colleges what you’ve learned.

Wow. I didn’t even realize it was important to get internships before my junior year of college. You’re on the right track. Pick the one you like best.
