Hey!

We are signing up for our classes in a couple weeks and I am really conflicted on whether or not to go ahead and take AP Bio or AP Physics B next year as a junior.

I did Honors Biology as a freshman, so I was wondering if that makes a difference at all? Would taking AP Biology show dedication or rather look dull because I am repeating the same subject over again?

And, I'm really not interested in either science, to be honest, but I have to choose one anyway. I will be doing AP Calculus AB next year. I am not really that bad at math, but I do not particularly enjoy it either.

Which would be a smarter choice for me? I will have AP Lang, AP Calc AB and APUSH with the science, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your advice!

From an engineer’s viewpoint, AP Physics is more fun, but you sound like an English/Social Studies type of person, and it seems like (at least in my class), those people excel more in Bio than they do in Physics. It won’t make an overall impact on college admissions which you take though, so take the one that interests you more and you can do better in.

If you’re good at remembering tons of stuff, take AP Bio.
If you’re more comfortable with mathy things, take AP Physics B.

If neither, then ask some older friends and take whichever one is easier.

You may want to go ahead and take the physics B course. If you do end up doing science in the future, or maybe your major just has some weird physics requirement, it will REALLY SUCK, like REALLY, if you haven’t taken any physics prior to your college physics class. Avoid it all costs!

Also AP Bio sucks. In it right now, super boring, a TON of work too, so if your APUSH teacher gives out required note taking as well, then you’re screwed. Additionally AP Bio does not feel particularly useful.
