which is a better NYU-POLY Rochester Institute of Technology or Rensselaer

I have recently been accepted to NYU-POLY for Computer Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology for Computer Engineering Technology was put on the waiting list for Rensselaer (RPI)

I had a question because I truly want to do Computer Engineering and not Computer Engineering Technology which is what RIT offered me. But I am not sure how recognize NYU-POLY previously known as Polytechnic is. I would like to know if I should risk taking a chance and attending RIT and then try to change my major. Or should I go to NYU-POLY and get my desired majored just in case I don't get pulled out of RPI waiting list

well, what do you like about RIT that you don’t like about NYU-Poly?

I am not sure which one is better recognize. I just want to go to a school that can get me a job as soon as I graduate. I am not sure if I can leave NY and get a job like in Texas with an NYU-Poly degree. I believe RIT is better recognize but I am not sure.

suppose recognition had nothing to do with anything; then, which would you choose? you’re going to spend four years there. it better be more than a pretty name and face.

umm the thing is that i’ve never really visited any of the campus and don’t have the money to travel to New York to just visit. So I am not really sure. All i’ve done is that i’ve read reviews on both schools but they seem to be pretty even. So I am not sure. I guess I am going to just wait on how much financial aid and scholarship each institution offers me.

How much are you going to pay for each of them?

Engineers are in demand. How much difficulty do you think you would encounter in trying to get a good job, competing against alumni from local/regional schools?

yeah, graduating from either school shouldn’t present a program in terms of finding a job. maybe set up phone interviews or meet with alumni in your area; I know NYU-Poly does phone interviews. You can just call them to schedule. I know because I work there, and I’m by the phone now lol. Purdue, I’m not sure about, but I know meeting in person with an alumni ought not to be too difficult; they have a very large base.

RPI (Rensselaer) is the best by far.

yeahhhh, see I believe that “best” is arbitrary, especially for a school.

Thank you all for your responses. I am not sure yet how much each school is offering me, but I think I will just have to wait and see to make a final decision :)

If RPI comes through, it is the best of these. And while “best” may be arbitrary, the number of variables in which either of the other two come out on top is a very small number.

I would probably nominate RIT because of coop, but there is nothing wrong with NYU-Poly if you have a personal desire to go that way.

honestly, I second RPI. it’s a great program.
