I have to go to a school in TN because that's all my family can afford, being middle class and not qualifying for financial aid. MTSU is half the cost of UTK, but I'm worried that I won't get a good job after college with mtsu because it isn't as recognized as UTK. I live close enough to commute to MTSU but not UTK.... My dad wants me to live at home, but I feel I'd be missing out on the college experience to go to a school like that. Plus I wanna gain some independence. I am unsure of what major I want to pursue, but I'm interested in business, music, and psychology. ACT 27 and 4.0 GPA... Which should I go to??

Bump bump bump

What do those acronym’s stand for?

Sorry I’m from New England…

^ Yes, again with the damn acronyms. I assume the first is a state U/flagship, but seriously people, we have no idea what the hell these things are.

/rant

^^ I wish there was some kind of search engine where you could type things in that you didn’t know and find out what they meant in under a second. :/

Seriously? It takes more time for you guys to complain than it would have for you to have taken the 3 seconds to google it. Middle Tennessee State University and the UTenn - Knoxville. Besides, if you don’t know what these acronyms/schools are then you shouldn’t even be IN this topic because you don’t know enough about the schools to really judge them. =/

@ the OP: You’re right, I think UT Knoxville is a little bit more prestigious than MTSU although MTSU isn’t a bad school by any means. I’d go with what your family can afford, and see where you can go from there.

Also, your ACT is about right about average of UTK, maybe a bit above, while your ACT is easily in the 90th percentile or higher for MTSU.

Well yeah, but it’s mostly the attitude/implication that we OBVIOUSLY know what these acronyms are. It’s like if you’re having a conversation with someone and they’re talking about something you know nothing about yet you’re expected to keep the conversation going and to show an interest.

I mean yo, I want to help but I don’t really know much if I don’t even know the name of the colleges.
