Elizabethtown College in PA
(6k a year)
Or
Pace university Honors College (phorzeimer) in NYC
(17k a year)
Which is more worth it / respectable on paper?
I do deem the nyc area being more worth it.
Thanks so much!!! Any opinions are great!
To study what? Worth it for whom? And at what cost- is this a situation where someone is liquidating a 529 and could afford both colleges- or someone who can only afford Elizabethtown but is hankering for Pace?
Pace is not Berkeley or Stanford btw. So going into debt for Pace??? With what end goal???

Elizabethtown town college (6k yr)
Or Pace University nyc Honors College (Phorzheimer honors… Dont know if that actually makes it better) (17k/yr.)

Have you told us how much your family is paying each year?
What is in your Pace aid pkg? Any loans? any work study? how much in a grant?
What is in your E package?
We need to know how those net numbers $6k or $17k would get paid for? AND, are there loans ALREADY in those aid pkgs?
Both schools will be respected. You want to go to Law School. Law Schools won’t turn you down just for the name of the school. They won’t really care once a school’s name is outside of ivy-level.
My friend’s DD is starting law school this fall. She went to Alabama. She applied to about 10-12 schools (Vandy, G’town, Boston College, Notre Dame, UTexas, FSU, and a few others that I’m not remembering). She got accepted to all of them These law schools didn’t care that she went to Alabama (for nearly free, I might add.) These law schools really only cared that she had an amazing GPA and LSAT score and an impressive resume.
In my opinion, these colleges are very comparable. You can get a good education at either school.
Not planning on law school for sure… And both tuitions are doable. I’d be taking out an 8,000$ loan for pace with no problem. NOT ASKING ABOUT PRICE IDK WHY I INCLUDED THAT. I want to know which degree of academia would be more respectable to look at from big employers?
Let me try again.
These two colleges are very comparable. You will able to get a degree from either place with about the same opportunities.
Employers will NOT care. They’re equivalent.

In addition to the $5500+ loan in your Pace FA pkg? If so, that’s too much. You’d end up with 60k in undergrad debt…that’s way too much , particularly for an int’l relations/languages sort of degree.
Cost of living while attending college will be significantly higher in NYC than in elizabethtown…
No difference. And you can’t take out an $8K loan as a student. Go to Elizabethtown.
You know, I think you should go to Pace. Elizabethtown is a very small school and if you are going to be angry and miserable it will be awful for everyone. They are both very good schools, but totally different. I find it very strange that they would be the two remaining choices for the same student.
Are these the only 2 possible schools?
@zoosermom may be right that you might enjoy Pace more, but she may not realize your financial situation and the debt you’d be taking on.
We can only guess that your aid pkg from Pace ALREADY includes at least a $5500 loan, so borrowing another $8k is not a good idea, particularly for that major.
I would go back to the list of available schools and check New York and New Jersey
This student has already applied to nod been clothed to colleges. Sure, the student could look at the schools with openings…but really…what’s the point? She has an affordable option.
Wasnt talking about price. And yes how do you think students take loans out all the time with a cosigner…
And i mean can i do better ? Idk/:
I have 3.7 gpa and 29 act
You will need a cosigner for loans above the Direct Loan amount…$5500 for freshman year.
I think they are comparable schools. If they’re both affordable, pick the one you like better. If finances are a concern, I don’t think you lose anything by going with the less expensive choice.
The stepdad has naively agreed to cosign the loans. I hope he’s prepared to pay those back when the student can’t afford to.

And interests in languages, internation relations , possibly with a media studies too. Pretty undecided
<<
I wonder what is going to happen to all of these int’l relations/studies grads?
Okay mom2collegekids pleaae stop criticizing my interests over and over again. What did you major in and why? I would hope it’s something you like… Idk why you keep bashing my major choices. I will do great things . I’m not going to go major in engineering or cpu science… Because thats not me.

In this side by side comparison, Elizabethtown College has a lower acceptance rate and higher SAT scores, also higher graduation rate.
