2007 BusinessWeek magazine ranked Bentley (#31) ahead of Babson (#33) and Boston Univ School of Mgmt (#37).

Challenging but not rigorous; No need to study Fri/Sat
I go to Bentley (so of course I’m biased), and I’d like to emphasize that Bentley academics are said to be “challenging but not rigorous” according to students surveyed by PrincetonReview (review.com). I believe this to be accurate. These surveyed students also mentioned that at Bentley there is “no need to study on Friday and Saturday nights” (review.com). This seems accurate as well.

Grading System
Babson students’ overall GPAs tend to be lower as perhaps some type of grade deflation may be more common there. Boston University is known to have a similar system.
On the other hand, at Bentley it’s fairly easy to get by and keep the GPA above a 3.0. At Babson this is not the case. Babson has some very well-accomplished students, some of whom are running their own businesses. Some seem as though they are addicted to caffeine, drive Astin Martins and wear designer-threaded jeans. At Bentley we have one kid who drives a Ferari Enzo and he is a prince from Saudi Arabia. So we got students who are “ballin’” at both schools. Rich people send their kids to Babson and Bentley.

General Perceptions
From talking to students at both schools and doing some research, here are a few things I’ve noticed. Bentley has a better male to female ratio (59% male, 41% female) than does Babson (61% male, 39% female). Babson tends to have more international students. Babson students are said to be more snobby and the students seem hold an elitist opinion of how good Babson is and this may be because Babson is nationally recognized (#1 year after year in US News and World Report) in entrepreneurship.

Job Placement
Bentley has amazing connections with accounting/finance firms. I interned in audit at a big4 accounting firm in Boston. I got to tell you that it was like the "Bentley Dream Team" on my first day there when all of the interns met. You have about 15 Bentley interns, whereas you have 1 Babson, maybe 2 (at least at the one I was at). One of my classmates is working in M&A as an i-banking analyst at JP Morgan. Another just completed a Masters in Accountancy (MSA) at Bentley and is starting as an i-banking analyst at Lehman Brothers. A bunch of other classmates are in Deloitte Consulting.

Bentley’s Facilities
The trading room and the rest of the facilities are absolutely amazing! There you can become certified/proficient with various financial software - Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, Morningstar, etc. In my intro to finance course, we did a simulated bond trading session!!! It wasn’t graded at all and it was so much fun!!! I stayed in there on a Sunday afternoon just to play it again and again for fun!!!

Bentley Athletics are D2; Babson are D3
Bentley is NCAA Division I in ice hockey and NCAA Division II in all other sports (football, field hockey, golf, xc/track, volleyball, swimming, tennis). We just recruited a guy named Dustin Cloutier. “Head coach Ryan Soderquist has announced the Bentley hockey team's recruiting class of 2007, consisting of five recruits from top junior hockey programs across the country…. Cloutier is a 5-10 right center who played with the Mahoning Valley Phantoms of the North American Hockey League last season. He led the Phantoms in scoring, setting the team record with 83 points (42-41-83), and earned a spot on the All-NAHL first team” - http://www.bentley.edu/athletics/pr_view.cfm?id=542874
The Bentley bball team is a bunch of nasty balers (I’m not a bball fan but man are they fun to watch!!! They drain 3s and do alleyoops when the other team is sleeping!!!!) and they made it to the D2 elite eight this year!!! Their field hockey team made it to NCAA Division II nationals this year and they won the D2 National title back in 2001. Bentley has a decent football team as well. Football is good for getting school spirit and crowds, etc. My point of all this is that you get all the advantages of a career-focused school without losing out on the overall collegiate experience.

Overall Rec
Overall, I really recommend Bentley (as you can probably tell). With Bentley’s job opportunities, grading system, extracurricular activities, international studies, study abroad opportunities, and social environment, you’ve got to go with Bentley.
