I have both options at my school. I want to take just about the hardest courseload possible, and honestly I'll take whichever will impress the colleges more. So what do you think? Oh and yeah sorry I know this question is asked alot but I haven't seen one like it in a few weeks :) Thanks!

This question is asked a lot, including by me. I believe the general agreement is that you should take dual enrollment classes that are:
A: Not offered at your school, or only at a standard level; or
B: Are at a Higher level than an AP class that you have already taken, or self-studied and taken the test (Like Calculus III and Differential Equations)

Hope this helps

Bumppppppp

So, what have you decided to take next year? I'm currently planning 3 APs and 4 Dual enrollment courses.

At my school, a few AP courses translate as dual enrollment courses. I'll be taking as many as will fit into my schedule. I go to a performing arts high school, so a good part of my schedule is comprised of arts classes.

Actually this wasn't for next years classes, it's for my Junior year classes. I didn't have much of a choice for my schedule for next year, but I'm taking 1 AP and the rest honors classes.

I think the really prestigious colleges generally prefer AP because the AP courses are standardized (so they know exactly what you have learned), whereas they will not know what you learned in your courses at whatever college.

alginqinf, ive realized that you always post your schedule on threads and it always changes. first you have a million online classes and AP's, now you have 4 dual enrollment classes?

LOL Well I can't make up my mind, and then courses are add/subtracted from being offered online... then my administration doesn't want me in x course, or wants me to take x in y schedule. I was going to take several humanities APs, but then I realized that I enjoy science/math more than humanities, and my courses should reflect that. I just recently learned it was possible for me to take AP Physics B.... In any case, I won't be certain about my courses for several months.... nothing's certain until my enrollment in the online/ dual enrollment courses are confirmed. I'm still working on getting my schedule approved, and school year ends next month. (So sue me, I'm a freshman.)

Anyway, here's what I'm currently requesting:
1st semester
AP Physics B (online)
AP Calculus BC (online)
AP Computer Science AB (online)
Dual enrollment Chemistry I
Dual enrollment Spanish I (online)
Honors English II (Online)

2nd semester:
AP Physics B (online)
AP Calculus BC (online)
AP Computer Science AB (online)
Dual enrollment General Biology I (online)
Dual enrollment Spanish II (online)
Honors Civcs and Economics (online)

There haven't been that many changes. (AP Government --> AP Physics, Addition of Spanish, Honors English, Honors Civics and Economics, and subtraction of AP Psych.)

so are you not going to school seeing as all your classes are online?

Chemistry's not online. -_______-

buddy with these many online classes you are depriving yourself of the training you get hands-on in class and of social skills by working in teams. Plus, i doubt u will learn as much as a person will by actually having a teacher and asking questions etc.

Technically I have to be at school for my assigned online "lab" time. So I'll be there. LOL And Chemistry isn't online. :)

There aren't any AP's offered at my school, and I'm not planning to become a permanent hermit. Just hopefully for next year, I'm told I have a good chance at a state magnet school I really want to attend. They accept people for Junior and Senior years only. The classes at my school are block scheduling, at that just doesn't intermix with online semester classes.

so ur gonna spend ur school days at home aside from 1 period? thats ridiculous. live a little.

No, I'll be at my CC 1 period, and I'll still have to be physically at my High School all day for my online classes.

Alot of selective colleges give no credit for dual enrollment, but will for AP.
Check the websites of some colleges you might be interested in and see what it says for credit acceptance
