After talking to many counselors/advisors, I plan to apply to UCD, UCSC, UCSD (out on a limb), UCI, UCSB, CSULB, and SJSU for undergrad computer engineering, but I want to narrow it down to save money on applications.

My question is which schools are better and why?

Ive done much research and found that UCSC's engineering dept. has small class sizes and is still new. Its also been called a "pot head" school (just relaying the message).

UCSD has a top-notch engineering dept, but I'm unsure of my chances so I'm not relying on an acceptance letter from them.

UCSB is known as a party school, but their engineering program is top-notch as well. Im afraid of the school reputation hindering my future chances of internship/careers/masters applications.

UCI/UCD-I haven't found much info yet.

CSULB and SJSU has a good engineering program, but is impacted like no other.

Please give me some info and advice?

Im currently a CC student and qualify for UCI'S and UCSC's TAG program.
I also have a 3.2 GPA at the moment, but will increase after this semester, hopefully to a 3.3-3.4.
