Trying to transfer from community college to University of Georgia in year or two. I have decision to make in the meantime if I should take professors I know will be harder yet more informative but possibly result in lower grades given or take teachers which are easier and less informative but gives me better grade (easy A’s) to students. I want to receive best education possible but since I want to transfer I feel I have to focus more on what I know the teacher will likely give me for a grade rather than the quality of education I will receive from him/her.
Which is better payoff? 1. Take more informative prof but harder grader 2 less inf. prof. but easy A
If the class is in your major or a pre-req it may be worth having a teacher that is more informative because you need a good foundation.
If a class is an elective and you won’t need to take further classes, go for the easy grader.
Yes, if it’s important for your major, take the more informative prof! When I was in college, I had the chance to take steel design from a world-renowned engineering professor. He was a TOUGH teacher, so I decided to take the class from another guy. What a mistake. The other guy was a horrible teacher and I missed out on so much. I would definitely do things differently if I had the chance again!
