HEy guys, just wondering, is it better to have a 33 ACT score with your scores being, let's say: 32,33,33,34, or 30,31,35,36? i know this might seem like a weird question, but please, input would be great!

It depends on what those subscores are in. Many colleges consider the math and English sections to be the more important scores. In any event, in your situation you should likely send both when applying to colleges. They will choose that one they think is better for you when deciding admission if they do not superscore and if they superscpre ACT, they will use the highest section scores from the two tests.

thank you for your input. any one else?? please!!

I am wondering why when colleges view the SAT they concentrate on Reading and Math and sort of discount the writing (ie English) whereas when considering the ACT it would be the Math and English, why not be concerned about the reading as well. Any college major would be impacted by reading, not all majors are impacted by English. For example the STEM majors would require superior reading skills as well as math ability. Great writing ability would be secondary I would think.

Guys what i think i was trying to ask was if i had one over the other, which would be a better combination if i plan to apply to the top tier schools in the country (i.e. ivies)

bump please!

can anyone else contribute??

I think I would send both if it is a school that uses the best score sent. For ACT most don’t super score so they would use your 33, which was the overall on both and then would have to consult the sub scores on both and I would think that they would use the ones that best suit your desired area of study. Also if you were my child I would say take it again your scores indicate that on a good day you could raise your score to a 34. Give it one more try IMHO
