So, I can't decided if I should take Creative Writing again next year (my Junior year). I took it this year, so I don't think I would get any credit for taking it next year. However, if I take it next year, my teacher said I can be the head editor for my school's magazine (which has placed 2nd best in the state for 2 or 3 years now), a position usually only given to seniors. Would this be an interesting hook? Also, it will be my teacher's last year and he is great teacher. Because of him, I was able to win 2 Scholastic regional gold keys this year. If I took it again next year, I could write more to enter for next year's Scholastic. I could do this in my free time, though, but my teacher is really good at editing and making writing better. Would colleges see taking the same class two years in a row as bad?
If I don't take creative writing next year, I would take environmental science and self study for the following AP exam and I don't think there's any room in my senior schedule to take environmental science, so this would be my only chance.
Which would be the better choice? Thank you! :)

If forget about college application, just follow your passion, which course (Creative Writing, environmental science ) do you want to take?

If your passion is “Creative Writing”, you can take more advanced writing class instead repeating the same class. Maybe go to local college to take a writing class if your high school does not provided more advanced writing class.
As for hook or credential, don’t you think Scholastic regional gold keys is better than state school’s magazine award? Are you from one of those region-at-large?
If you like environmental science more, you can do creative in your free time. I think you won golden key is because your gift in writing, and I do not think it because the people who edited your work, since creative writing looks for your own unique voice.

It all comes down to the course you REALLY want to take. I chose my Creative Writing Honors course over AP French and I am so happy with my decision.
