Which is Better?

I only satisfied the first half of the reading and comp. requirement with my AP English Lit score, and I was looking at the availiable classes to take first semeter. I wanted to take a course that wasn't just straight writing, but had history mixed in as well. So which of the following classes would be best:

Letters and Science R44, 5.0 units.
<a href="http://courseweb.berkeley.edu/courseweb/pub/courses/2006/FL/L%20&%20S/R44/001%5B/url%5D">http://courseweb.berkeley.edu/courseweb/pub/courses/2006/FL/L%20&%20S/R44/001</a></p>

Slavic R5B, 4.0 units.

History R1, 4.0 units.

Thanks for your help.

The first if five untis and will likely have the most reading, but then again the I would say the history course might. The reading list for L&S R44 stays similar each year, so you can see what it is and the pace. Look into the reading lists on the other two (on the slavic studies and history websites) to see if they are posted, or if the themes are posted. Read the reviews of the different profs on ratemyprofessor.com. It's likely that if a GSI is teaching history or the slavic class, they will not be on it. Take the one that works best for you, which will probably be a function of time and what you're most interested in. L and S R44 has two lectures and discussions per week, I bet slavic studies has 3 hybrids a week and history is the same, but you'll have to check on that.

I'd go with r44, western civ. is really interesting. Take a look at German R5A and Asian American R4A, those are good RCs too.
