I am not sure if it is better to fill out an online application or just send one in the mail. Which is more beneficial? I personally would prefer mailing one in because i can work on the paperwork whenever i want to unlike an online application. So which is better?

It makes absolutely no difference to the AdComms.

I think it said somewhere on the website that they preferred online applications and that you should only use paper applications if you don't have internet access. Although if you're a good applicant, I doubt that'd make a huge difference.

You can also work on an online application whenever you want, though. (Or are you talking about times when you don't have internet access nearby?)

You can print the application, work on it on paper when you don't have a computer nearby, and then type it in afterwards to submit online. I don't think it makes a big difference but it's probably easier for admissions to handle your application. Plus, you don't have to worry about stuff getting lost in the mail or lost in the office somewhere.

Online is better. They're all converted to an online application because Columbia runs a "paperless" admissions file, so less can go wrong if you do online

I'll chime in adding to the "online is better" consensus. The head of undergrad admissions I spoke to explicitly stated that preference.

that's pretty important since columbia's administration is very inefficient, lazy and error-prone.

i did mine online and it turned out fine.

Online. If you submit a paper app, they have to retype it to handle it.

they prefer online, so just do online

how do you send rec's and supp material if you use online?

that part is paper, your counselor should be the one sending in all that stuff
