Northwestern or Upenn?

UPenn I think.

::cries::
i want to go to both

but i'm really not sure u can say "better"
you have to take into account what exactly you're going to be doing. if you're going into materials science or journalism, i'd think NU is def the better bet.. if you're going into business and get into wharton, definitely penn...

also it's what you're looking for in a school... depends on your def of "better"

Dude are you seriously asking this in a Northwestern post?

Hey nomad, I think he's doing the right thing. Northwestern's folks are pretty civilized and unbiased....;)

All these college specific boards will soon be flooded with "which college is better?" threads....all the RD applicants will be receiving multiple acceptances and having to decide where to attend...I'm glad to see NU folks are civilized as Sam Lee said...

lol I was going to say U Penn but my pc got dc. But seriously theres no comparison. Is U Penn better than Brown ? Is northwestern better johns Hopkins or Wash U ? Those are good questions me thinks oh well . GOod luck on your endeavours

Lola, Northwestern and Penn are roughly equal overall. Neither is considered top 5 but both are among the top 15 (ignore the USNWR, it is way off). If you want to major in Engineering, Journalism, Theater, Film or Chemistry, Northwestern has the clear edge. If you want to major in Business or International Studies, Penn wins. In most other fields, they are equal. But the two schools are very different in most ways. Northwestern is more ideally situated. Its campus is more pleasant. Penn is affiliated to the Ivy League, so it has the aura. Northwestern has the Quarter system. I think Penn goes with a Semester system. Back in the day, when I had to chose, I would have chosen Northwestern over Penn....but that's me.

I think the atmosphere is better at Penn.

Tore, I am surprised at you. For someone who is scared of size, you certainly seem to have picked the bigger one here! hehe I mean, Penn has 10,000 undergrads and 10,000 graduate students. NU has 8,000 undergrads and 7,000 graduate students. And NU is more spreadout. Forshame!!! LOL

Alexandre! I'm surprised at YOU for being in the Northwestern and not the Michigan forum (though pleasently surprised - I haven't done my daily checking over there yet since I just got home). You should come over here more often. It's nice to see you arguing for Northwestern once in a while.

However, since I have your attention, I got a nice compliment from a sub that I had today about the Michigan sweatshirt that I am wearing. He said it has class.

BTW, for the Northwesterners, I haven't forgotten about NU. I have a Northwestern sweatshirt as well. I just didn't wear it today.

Reeses, I often stumble upon the Northwestern forum. I love the school, so it is always nice to see what's happening. Besides, I am omnipresent. You should know that by now! hehe

Eh. I guess I did sort of know that about you (or at least had a gut feeling of it). You do seem to show up everywhere. LOL. However, since you've never posted over here, I didn't have proof of it, but I do now!
