Which is better?

Hey guys, so I've noticed recently that although I do pretty decent on a lot of things (ie: GPA, ACT, SAT, SATII's, EC's, etc) There's always someone who does better than me in something. For instance, I got a 2220 on my SAT, but there's someone I know who gets a perfect. And so I'm wondering, who do colleges like better? the Jack of all trades who is pretty good at everything but not perfect at anything or the guy who is probably above average in everything but perfect in one thing?

I’d say it depends. If your talking about skills/interests, like math, painting etc. I think that adcoms are looking for depth vs. breadth, but if you’re talking about areas of your application (which it appears you are) it is probably beneficial to be on an equal level in all areas, that way one area isn’t dragging you down.

p.s. I got 2220 as well!!!
