Which is easier, AP Chem or AP Bio?

Which test do you think is easier? I heard AP Chem is a killer.

AP Biology is sheer memorization of an insane amount of information to an extend where you mind blows.
AP Chem is application of loads of knowledge to many mathematical degrees and is pretty memorization based as well.
Pick your poison.

chem was easier for me but im a biology person

took ap chem and ap physics b last year...it was hell.

bio=ridiculously easy after that.

wow, that's a horrible combination

I took AP Chem and I didn't think it was too bad. I felt that there was much less memorization than the AP Bio test.

would it be doable for an average student to take AP physics B, AP chem, and BC calc AP w/ the possibility of AP english and AP psych?

what are the best two science combinations?

i dunno the answer to ^that question, but ap chem is alot more conceptualization whereas you can get away with ap bio through memorization.

bio and chem together were not bad.. alot of the bio labs are more easily memorable with chem knowledge. chem and physics kinda overlap in the waves unit, as well as electron structure, and thermodynamics.

Biology is easier in my opinion. Chemistry is a lot more work than Biology was for me. I got a 5 on the Biology exam, although much of it is wrote memory.

i just like the fact that in Chemistry you understand stuff which to me is not as difficult as just pure memorizing. I plan to do medicine and of course memorizing is needed but you need a whole lot more time for that.

Btw, our honors chem teacher recommends us to take AP chem next as it will be a whole lot review of this class; however there will be a lot more difficult concepts. How accurate is her advice?

Personally, I found AP Chem to be much easier than AP Bio. True, AP Bio does require more memorization but I know that a few of my friends who absolutely loved AP Bio are also the most logically framed people I know. From their point of view, the concepts were made clear by simplification of the material through diagrams and hands-on learning from our bio teacher.

AP Chem really did not seem like it required a lot of thinking on my part. Basically if you can work with equations and can think quantitatively, you will find that the topics in AP Chem vary very little. The problem solving for the most part is very basic.

sports61kh....do yourself a favor and just go jump off a cliff right now. spare yourself all that pain later on.....

lol jk sorry=) but ap chem and ap physics b is a pretty deadly combination. while ap english (lang or lit?) and ap psych are easy ap's, if you combine them with something like chem AND physics, you're very likely to overwhelm yourself. also, calc is no piece of cake, even though it's definitely better than physics in my opinion.

are you going to be a junior or senior next year? if you'll be a junior, drop one of the sciences and take an easier ap (like history, stats, econ, or something). if you'll be a senior and you really want to take those classes....see first sentence of this post.

hope that helps!;)

farralicious- dont colleges like students who overwhelm themselvse lol

bio...i think

If you can keep your grades up, then go for it and that's when colleges like it.

My school has a low passing grade for the AP Chem test.... like alot of brilliant kids get 2's. The AP Chem teacher is amazing though, he's really easy and you can get an A in his class if you just do the work. The AP Bio teacher is frickin crazy and the average grade is a B but mosly everyone passes the test with atleast a 3.

If you had to choose between the two, which would you choose?

farralicious, thanks for the advice
actually, i was exaggerating a bit on english/psych i'll probably only take calc, physics, and chem

that's more manageable right? hypothetically, would adding psych screw me over? b/c i'm interested in it, but is it a lot of work?

It depends. Are you more of a memorization person or application/math person?

For me, AP Chem is way easier. I absolutely hated Honors Biology and therefore would never take AP Bio.

Psych is fairly easy if you have a good teacher. Mine sucks and didn't teach and would give out tests that everyone failed and then would yell at us so I dropped it. It shouldn't add that much more work. Once again, it depends on the teacher. Chem and Physics is such a gross combination.
