Which is harder?

And, which is appreciated more by HYP? And will a high score on Math I make up for a sub-par score in Math SAT? (Like... 700+ in Math I make up for a 600's score for Math reasoning?)

hyp would definitely prefer to see math iic but a 700+ is a very good thing in math i

Math 2 definitely tests harder material than Math 1. At the same time, it's easier to get a higher score on Level 2 because of its generous curve:
miss 6 = 800

Note also, though.. I'm not going into any science or math related major, but I am sure that HYP likes to see competence in all subjects, which I assume my SAT score wouldn't be showing.

It's much, much harder to earn an 800 on the Math I.
The material is more difficult, the ability to think rapidly is demanded, and pacing is essential.

Either way, one must have a perfect test to earn 800.

I disagree with kwu^. Was looking in the Princeton review book for SAT ii math 2 and you can get a raw score of -8... and still get an 800 while for SAT ii math 1 which i will suppose to be like one continuous test of SAT reasoning math sections one after the other the questions are much easier and thus the curve is hardly as generous. Go wild and take a chance with math 2 who knows? I would say the probability is much higher for math 2 but what do i know? Don't stress over this too much.

SAT I 800 is more impressive and more difficult.

No look at the percentiles. According to the OP(thing not person) Math I subject test has a higher "ceiling" 99+ percentile.

yeah, but think about who's taking it... 88th %ile math II means more than math1

Guys, no offense, but most of you lack basic critical reading ability and do not deserve to get into any good college...

He asked us to compare the SAT I Math section with the SAT II Math I Subject Test.

SAT reading/verbal score is the most important. Math is not as appealing.

Haha, I can’t believe I wrote that. I’m sorry.

My observation stands, though.

The Math I Subject Test is more difficult that than SAT Reasoning Test’s Math section.

2 year old thread guys…

Math L1 800 is more difficult than a Math Reasoning 800.

I got 800 in Reasoning, but only 770 in Math L1. I think it was mostly because it covers more material.

edit: @1253729 hahah oops.
