Well, my high school sucks and offers neither AP Physics nor AP Chemistry. I was wondering if current engineering majors could tell me whether introductory physics or chemistry courses were usually more difficult, as I hope to devote the summer before I go off to school to learning one of these using MIT's OCW. Thanks.

It depends on the student in question but most students find Physics, especially Electricity and Magnetism, to be harder due to the math content and concepts.

For me, there was NO comparison. Chemistry was a piece of cake, and physics kicked my butt.

I found intro physics much harder… Freshmen Gen. chem was rather straightforward and easy to do problems once you get the concept… As for Intro physics, which I took in my JUNIOR year and still did worse, I had no problem with understanding the mathematical concepts or whatnot, it’s just the test problems were complicated and hard to set up. Heck even the physics homework sets and lab reports were much harder… They are painintheassess…

I feel the same way as MaineLonghorn.

Good to know, thanks guys.

Shoot, I found phsyics easier than chem. Chem made me memorize a bunch of bulls**t while physics was all about why things happen and is about as basic as you can get. That might have had a lot to do with the fact that chem was boring to me and physics was interesting to me though.
