Which is more difficult: Calc or Stats?

I personally think Stats is cake but a few people I know who have taken both prefer Calculus. So I'm just curious what you all think :).

It really depends on the level of each subject, especially with statistics.

It depends on the person. Calculus and Statistics courses require you to think in different ways; different people have different abilities to think in either of those two ways.

If you are talking about 100 level intro stats versus calculus, the stats classes are almost always way easier.

But ThisCouldBeHeaven is right–it depends on the level of the class. There are advanced undergrad and graduate courses in statistics that are much more difficult than the calculus classes.

Stats really isn’t “cake”. Probabilities are tough to think about, I think.

A lot of it can depend on the professor too. I remember when I took the class the tests were roughly the length of our homeworks, and homeworks usually took a few hours. We had one hour for the test. No curve. It was also usually slightly more difficult than the HW. The next semester my friends took the class with a new professor and it was a cakewalk.

Both 100 level calculus and stats were similar for me. But advanced calculus was much more difficult than advanced stats, where I had professors trying to recruit me for the grad program. I did not understand the calc proofs, but the stats proofs made perfect sense. I figure I am a less theoretical person and a more applied person. Unfortunately, at the end of my degree, I realized I should have gotten a degree in stats and not math.
