Which of the two schools is harder to get into?

Steinhardt is generally the easier one. Gallatin accepts lower GPAs than Steinhardt sometimes but focuses on writing a lot more. This is just a theory believed by many students at NYU and outside of it.

vskills-what are you planning on studying?

Rstine's question is most relevant. Some of the departments in Steinhardt are very selective, as they include portfolio and auditions. It has a very wide range of types. As for Gallatin, I think what you want to study is very important in terms of how you are looked upon as a candidate.

I really want to study Media, Culture, and Communication at Steinhardt.

At Gallatin I would try to combine Communications and Theatre somehow. Acting is my heart and soul, but I don't want a theatre degree

i dont know, thats a tough one...

maybe if you're worried about getting into gallatin but still really want nyu, then you can do communicatoins at steinhardt and just do threatre outside of classes? just a thought. good luck with whatever you end up deciding.
