Which is more strongly considered: Supplement or Common Essay?

This question is more toward Princeton but a general question that could be found at any college.

Which is normally considered in a stronger manner? Are they evenly considered or should one be stronger than the other? I have two interchangeable essays, say A and B. A is stronger than B and more personal than B but not by much. A is my Common Essay and B is my Supplement essay when the prompt is free. If the prompt for a supplement of another college matched A more and B is a common prompt anyway, would I be killing myself by making B, my slightly weaker essay, my Common essay and A, my stronger one, my supplement essay?
Thanks!

Could someone please answer?
Thanks!

They’ll both be read. It depends on the school, of course. Sometimes you can tell just by the nature of the school’s supplement guidelines.

IMO I believe that colleges look at supplments more because its directed to that one school! However you should prepare for both of them as best as you can! My friend’s GPA was in low 90s and he had an amazing essay. He got into harvard and the admisions called him because of that.
