Which is the less competitive major in CALS?

Hey,

I was wondering whether Biostatistics or AEM (By that I mean applied Econ, just in case that also stands for something else) is less competitive? Those are my first two choices, but I might as well put the less competitive one as my first choice, since I don't know what I want to do for sure yet, so yeah. I have a lot of Math and Science ECs, but I was thinking that (since I did horribly on the science part of the ACT), if I should maybe put Econ first, since I got a 34 on math, and above 30 in english and writing (My composite, unforunately, is a freaking 30...ugh!). So yeah, any help would be appreciated!

I would say most likely Biostats. I don't know much about it but AEM is VERY competitive. It's not so much how easy the major is to get into, but rather how much of a fit you are for it. Don't fret, I also have a 30/31 ACT, and it's near a 2100 SAT conversion, so it will not hurt your chances. Good luck!

Apply to the major you are most interested in...seriously...dont "mold" yourself to fit the major.

and dont also apply for a "least competitive" major. all of them have competition in some shape or form, and it actually drives you to do better

AEM is one of the top 10 undergrad business programs in the country...it is extremely hard to get in as a freshman. I just was accepted as a transfer student but even I was unsure of my chances.

definitely BIOStat AEM has like an acceptance rate of 12 percent or something redic like that

anyone know the acceptane rate for biological sciences at cals?

I'm not applying to biostat just because it's "easy". I really like my statistics class, and I think it would be a cool major since I want to go either pre-med or business.
