Which is the REAL application date?

I did not apply to a few colleges until the night of the deadline date. I admit it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but nevertheless I submitted all my materials via common app or the individual schools' application pages ALONG with the application payment for each of them before 11:59 of the deadline date. So technically speaking, I submitted all my material on time, however, the some schools send me a follow up e-mail a few days later saying something like "Thanks for applying" and that we received your application on "January 4th" (if the deadline was January 1st). Am I fine or did I actually apply too late? :(

This is a question that has been bothering me for a long time. I usually dismiss it because friends and family reassure me that it's fine. Hopefully, I can put this issue to rest with the response from all you helpful people!

I’m pretty sure as long as you submit the application before the deadline, they’ll still consider you. Colleges take a few days to actually get your info.

Do you think it’s in the best interest of any college on the planet to be so draconian with what you’re proposing? Common sense is yelling the answer to you.

Relax. You’re fine.
