which is your favorite dinning hall?

^^

Also during breakfast do the ucla dining halls have lactose free milk available?

Covel ftw.

They have 1% 2% and fat free.

I've seen Silk soy milk at Rieber and Hedrick. :)
Oh and my fav is Hedrick becae they serve sushi. yay

I prefer De Neve. It was too hard to find seats at Covel during peak times, and it'll be even worse now that Sproul's open.

i thought Hedrick sushi was ok for awhile... and then i ate real sushi over break.

i usually ate at Covel or Rendezvous. Hedrick is ok. i heard De Neve is good, but i only went there once. Rieber had something worth eating maybe twice a month.

if you eat at Covel, though, go really early or really late.

You should really try to have lunch @ Rieber or just at other dining halls, better than dinner imo.

i like covel, but its a mad house at peak times. no lactose free milk but they do have soy milk most of the time.

I'm pretty sure all the dining halls have soy milk (as I have friends that eat cereal all the time and only drink soy milk).

But as for the best dining hall...I always feel like Hedrick has the best tasting foods but is the hardest to get to with the fewest hours. Also I only usually do sushi there (which is def worth it cause they have soy beans, spicy chicken and special k with red berries all at the same time!).

Rieber is average all the time. Covel has great lunches usually, but can fail for dinner cause it's always pasta plus whatever they feel like. Also Covel never has any chicken sandwiches (of any kind) for dinner, so if you don't eat pasta and don't like their main dish and don't eat red meat you are in a bit of a pickle. De Neve is good, but if you don't live in De Neve you won't want to walk there. It's also really big which I tend to find overwhelming.

Ultimately you have to decide what matters most to you. Some dining halls have better cereal selections, some better salad bars, some better whatevs...Covel is the worst for cereal selection, but it's usually the best in quality cause other people eat there. Also if you go at 6 you might want to kill yourself over the crowds. You will struggle so hard to find a table. And with Sproul opening it will only get worse I fear.

Yeah, after thinking about it carefully...I prefer Rendevous. Or B-Caf. Or paying money to eat in Westwood. The dining halls are fine, but none really stand out as the best.

Oh and on a side note...the air around Puzzles actually feels greasy. BLAH.

covel's pizza+pasta=awesome! De Neve got old really fast since i lived in dogwood and had to go to De Neve a lot... Rendezvous and puzzles are good too... crossroads is good but their times just suck! i mean they open 15 hours a week during late nights...

to anyone that's in summer session right now... is b cafe open? do they still serve everything they serve during school year? man no puzzles and rendezvous is gonna kill me lol

The lines are much shorter in the summer. Sometimes, there is no one in there.

i love covel's thick deep dish pizza. :)

De Neve, best overall consistent food with seating availability

sweet news about b cafe, i eat at pretty odd hours so i never had long line problem... lol

Really, you liked DeNeve? I thought that food was terrible there last year, and Covel had the best food. I felt that everywhere except Covel had a worse variety of food compared to the previous year.

Didn't you get sick of the beef at DeNeve? There was like Colorado beef, Cantonese beef, Thai beef, Stir fry beef, pepper steak ... they're all the same thing with the same sauce! That and the dry chicken ... : (

wow lame about the milk stuff. i hear soy is actually really bad for you. i hear theres a ralphs near ucla. is that more like a walmart type store or safeway?

lol, de neve is terrible, covel doesn't always deliver since pasta is normally fatty as mickey D's and it's just redundant. you just have to mix it up, and remember than cereal is your best friend

De neve FTW.

Covel is good at times, but not always consistent.

And to Boelter, I ALMOST NEVER get the stuff from the place where they usually serve omelettes at de neve, which is where all the beef crap is at.

Hedrick has things that I REALLY like once in a while. They were the ONLY dining hall that has had Pita bread in it! I love pita. LOL.

Rieber is just nasty though, I hate rieber. The only thing worth going for is the churros, but thats like sugar ladened empty calorie sticks of death anyways. Not only does everything there usually not taste too good, it is also usually very very unhealthy, minus the salad bar. Yeah, I don't like rieber.

So what would you do if the other main entree was ... Chef's salad ... hahaha

I forgot to mention that seafood is served on Friday nights ... and at least in De Neve it's the same fish every time (with a different name, as you might have guessed) !

LOL I loved the Friday lunches at Rieber. For those who don't know, it's Mexican themed, food and music. Although they play salsa and merengue which is not Mexican. I told a worker this and the next friday they were playing Vicente Fernandez. Yay. Lol Loved the whole thing but it made me miss home and my mom's cooking. :)

churros... drool drool drooool......
