Y'all plan now to lessen the blows in the most meticulous ways. I know I've thought about this as well, but when it reaches 5 I'll have three tabs open on opera - Yale, Princeton, Brown - and will be looking at my first choice first no matter how much it hurts ;) (brown)

stroke-inducing? definitely. I'm loving it though!

I'm looking at them in the order that they pop up. I see if they came up in Cornell, Brown, Penn, Yale, Princeton order, but I doubt that all will come online at the exact same time.

Two weeks ago I received a phone call from one of the head admissions officers from Penn. I applied to the Huntsman program (i'd receive a duel degree from Wharton and the Int'l Studies school) but he told me that since I haven't taken Calculus (I'm in the first graduating class at my school and Calculus hasn't been offered) I probably wouldn't be able to handle keep up with the extremely competitive pace. Due to my otherwise impeccable application (grades, test scores, recommendations and internship) he suggested that I withdraw my application from that program and apply to the College of Arts and Sciences.

In the past four months, I have had a complete change of heart about the career that I want to pursue. I decided to follow his advice. I asked him (off the record, of course) if I did defer my application to the CAS, would I have a better chance of getting in. He said "Haha. You're very smart. Well...off the record...I count on seeing you here next fall."

Then the next day he contacted my school counselor to request some information. He basically told her flatout that I'm going to get accepted. Penn isn't my first choice (that's Harvard) but the fact that one of the admissions officers called me at 11 O'Clock EST (I'm in San Francisco and he called me at 8:00 my time) and was considerate enough to do what he did really gives me good feelings. That's why I'm so sure I got into Penn.

I've been indecisive between Columbia and Cornell for awhile now, until I recently visited all three campuses. Now I wouldn't mind either Cornell or NYU, I really didn't like the core program at Columbia.

i, like many people out there, feel that the only way to find outstanding jobs is to attend an ivy, but i've come to realize its all pride.

I'm the only child but i have twenty two cousins, all but three attended ivies(one to john hopkins, the other two aren't really booksmart) so i have a lot of pressure from my father.

I had my fair share of snobbish nerds who think they are better than everyone else, including several of my cousins, and the only reason they want to attend an ivy is to flaunt it. Many people from school don't know i have a high GPA so many were surprised when class rankings came out..3rd out of 358 w00t

I'm just saying if u don't get into that ivy league u always wanted, life isnt over...

Tomminer dont legacies at Harvard havea 40% acceptance rate? There is a Harvard legacy at my schooll who applied early to Harvard and was deferred. He has almost perfect SAT scores and is number one in the school but has really very very ordinary extra curriclular activities that show no leadership or passion. He is just a student who studies hard and does well. I imagine that after he was deferred his family made all kinds of calls to try to help him get in. Is he likely to be accepted? I imagine so. My school has never taken anyone to Harvard before and already took one early. Will this legacy have an advantage over an RD applicant to Harvard who has top grades and scores but not has high, but has international and national recognition, awards and achievements demonstrating exceptional artistic talent and extraordinary community service spanning years? I cannot imagine they would take two more.

I plan on staying after school... then coming home and, well, I have to find my name and password... it's somewhere around here... so yeah, I guess as soon as I find them I'll check. (Dartmouth & Brown, BTW) ... I already received an Early Write from Williams... so we'll see...

Since I'm gonna be out of town when decisions come out, I'm not gonna get to check until maybe Saturday. Since Harvard sends emails, that will be the first one.
