dude -- they're ****ing ivy league schools. you are in an ivy league school.

It's called sarcasm: get a sense of humor.

Being in an athletic conference does not exempt a school from being bad.

right. being below maybe the top 20, 30? maybe that does? the point is -- in the end -- that many schools, including all the ivies, are excellent schools.

There are great schools all over the rankings - plus the US News Rankings are sort of shady.
Examples of good schools below the top 30:
BU (60), Miami of Ohio (66), NYU (33), UIUC (40?)

Do I think that all the Ivy League schools are better overall than these schools above? Yes. Do I think they are better across the board in every aspect? No. Is my opinion the rule of law? It better not be ;)

I still find it mildly humorous that almost every single post on this thread was dissing the OP for such a "stupid" question and yet this thread has five full pages of responses.

^ i find it humorous that u became part of the system by posting in this useless thread, as did i in stating this lol

Well I had posted in it before stating my opinion (minus the dissing..), but I've just been watching it grow for the past few days and it's sort of ridiculous the number of people who seem so genuinely annoyed by it and yet put their two cents in. (i.e. the posts that are like: I think it's Cornell. BUT THIS IS SUCH A HUGE WASTE OF TIME! WHAT A STUPID QUESTION! But I still think it's Cornell..." haha, that's what's amusing to me)

Yea, it's stupid. But why can't you just have a little fun and laugh at some/all of the ivy league schools? Does their ivy league status exempt them from criticism or jokes?

Lighten up.

a question like this is like asking...

would you like 10 dimes or 4 quarters...same thing with different parts...great schools with different majors, campus etc.

they are ALL great schools...so are many state schools but that's not the point of this thread

Which playmate of the year is the ugliest? Discuss.

Janet Reno, Excursions.

1962 was a ridiculously slow year.

Haha good lord. I'm gonna admit that I looked that up to make sure you were kidding.

It definitely is Cornell; I don't understand what the big fuss is. The OP was asking about the reputations of the Ivy League schools among Ivy League students. In a visit to Dartmouth, and in interacting with many Ivy League students, many have outright said, "Cornell shouldn't be an Ivy" or "Cornell isn't on our level."

That being said, I wouldn't mind attending any Ivy League school, if cost wasn't an issue.

Read the following argument carefully, and see if it reminds you of anything.

Which one of these prostitutes has more STDs?

I mean, personally, I'd go for the one in black leggings; I've got a thing for blondes, and that pink dress just makes that other one look dumpy. Also, the horizontal lines on that skirt reveal a healthy distortion of what is relatively flatly cut fabric.

Mhmm.

Now; Iff I'm representative of the prostitute soliciting population, and a direct result of my debauchery was guaranteed transfer of STDs in every case in which I did bang one...
ONLY THEN could you determine which one hurt more when she peed.

You can't judge the magnitude of independent outcomes....especially if you have no data, no metrics, and no control.

This debate is silly.

yea it's like asking someone to compare sarah jessica parker and kirsten dunst in a hot body ugly face contest. it can't be done.

^ahahah, Peter Griffin.

An entertaining read:

...Yes, that silly, lowly Cornell, what with its consistent ranking above Brown and others (depending on who is ranking), as well as many of its individual programs ranked amongst the best in the country...

Its silly egalitarian mission to provide a world-class education to as broad a spectrum of society as possible. I mean, ew! They educate farmers along side astrophysicists and only reject 80% of applicants! That's like, oh my god, so not elitist enough to even be in the same galaxy as us!

Can we stop pretending one could actually, in any practical way, compare these wonderful schools that are structured so fundamentally different from each other? I mean - seriously - how would one go about comparing Brown or Dartmouth to Cornell or UPenn? Might as well compare Swarthmore to the University of Michigan.

Man....I wish my posts could be as valid but also as sarcastic as applejack's.

People claiming that Cornell is the most looked down upon ivy are just recounting their experiences. (the point of this thread). I don't think they aimed to compare academics...
