I will be a freshman in college next year, and I am thinking that I'd like to major in international relations, and I would eventually like to become a Peace Ambassador for the United Nations.

So my question is: Which language would be most useful for that profession?
The university I will attend has the following:
Elementary Arabic
Three Chinese Language courses
Five French Language courses
Five Italian Language Courses
Two Japanese Language Courses
Four Russian Language Courses
Five Spanish Language Courses

Any help and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to go into the UN, you need to speak more than one language, preferably French and something else. French and Spanish would make sense for practical purposes in the US. French and Arabic would be good as well but unless you're willing to put the time into finding a source for more Arabic courses beyond elementary, it isn't worth it.

Man your university sucks! I'm sorry but that selection is extremely disapointing. Half of those are the standard romance languages, and the rest have so few classes in them that they're not worth a footnote!

Thanks so much for your advice, SilverClover
