<p>Yeah totally understand AGSAABS, I got into a lot of really good schools like Choate but one of the reasons I chose Andover was that it did offer German as a language. More of a minor reason as I would be happy to learn Mandarin. </p>
<p>I learnt Latin in Australia and I just didn't like it unfortunately.</p>
<p>I think Spanish is the easiest language but it also is the least impressive to colleges, and a lot of people will have some background in it from middle/grade school. French is similar. Japanese is an interesting language, quite linear, and generally the class moves slow. Also looks great to colleges. German is good too. Latin is difficult but some people really love it, and it has that super scholarly air to it. And I say to this everyone I talk to about languages: think verrrry hard before you take Chinese. I know people who take it and they say it is very difficult. Often people debate between the two commonly offered asian languages, Japanese and Chinese, thinking that they are the same in difficulty. They aren't at all. Chinese is, in my observations, a very difficult language, and I would consider Japanese before it if you're looking to take a non-Romance language.</p>
