I know a few songs in Swedish. I have no clue what I'm saying, but I (attempt to) sing. I learned them for Sankta Lucia Day, when I was like 6.

german, then japanese, or chinese, or russian

Sign language. I just think its so cool that you can communicate with out speaking.

But if I had to speak in order to learn said language I would have to say.......Portuguese or Bengali.

sign language would be cool for some other reasons, like bugging your friends who dont know it with the others that do

it would be SO funny!

French is the more practical language of the two. It is spoken in many (very different) countries around the world, and used as a "second language" in many. Also, (i know from experience), learning/understanding Spanish and Italian afterwards is very easy.

but if you learn Spanish you can understand Italian even if you havent studied it, bc i can sometimes read things in Italian and understand them. I havent found it to be the same for French, though. It's kinda harder than Italian(im a native spanish speaker, btw, so maybe its not the same for everyone else)

French is simply a prettier language. It also used to be the language of business and diplomacy until English took over. :)

French is the diplomatic language.

Even though this isn't relevant: I heard that if you plan to major in math, German would be a useful language to learn.

oh...interesting

Italian!!!!!!!

Whats wrong with just learning a language for the hell of it? Sure not a lot of people speak Portuguese or Bengali (unless you live in Portugal or parts of India) but still I would rather learn either language as opposed to any of the Romance languages because of the fact that it really isnt an option. What I mean by that is that most high schools in Missouri dont offer Portuguese or Bengali as a foriegn language because like so many people think it would be "impractical" to learn any other language other than the Romance. My high school offered two other languages (German and Latin) besides the ones that EVERYBODY takes so its a step in the right direction. Though French or Spanish may SEEM more practical it doesnt mean that other languages arent worth learning.

francais all the waay ...its the language of LOVE....and german sounds kinda harsh...but i think it'd still be cool to learn both

any good German sites?

I would learn !Kung. Not many others can claim to have an exclamation mark.

African languages aren't my thing

Mine neither. I just love the way its spelled.

lol XD!!!!
