What kind of laptop do you plan on buying/bringing?

i dream of the asus eee cuz it's really small!

but otherwise, i dunno. any suggestions? all i need is fast internet, microsoft word, powerpoint, and possibly excel.

I'm might buy the HP Pavilion dv6500t. Anyone hear anything good/bad about it?

nope, never heard of it cuz i'm not a techie. where r u guys buying your laptops? i think it'll either be frys or UCLA store.

HP's Academic Purchase Program has some pretty good deals, I think $75 off of all notebooks. The dv6500t's pretty nice, but it's probably a good idea to upgrade the battery on it.

anything with duo processor, 1.8mhz, 2 GB RAM...120+ hardrive

also preferably...dell

I just got an HP dv6500 series laptop for $1200 at costco with these specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz
2gb ddr667
GeForce 8400 (128mb + shared)

Buncha other features like fingerprint scanner, a big-for-a-laptop (200gb) hd, etc.

EDIT: Stock battery is lasting 2.5 hrs on medium settings (would probably go up to 3 using the super power saving plan). A 12 cell is claimed to last 4 hours.

Kolosok, I got a dv6433cl @ costco recently.

Intel C2D 1.73ghz T5300
2gb DDR2 667mhz
160gb HDD 5400rpm
Integrated video

Good laptop, I am getting blue screens of death.. but thats partially my fault cause I messed with too many important things on the comp.

Gotta love costco's return policy though right?? 90 days for laptops. I can use it for almost 3 months and return it if I don't like it. SWEET.

My friend got a dv9500 or 6500 recently too.

I think the majority of laptops @ school are Dells. Macbooks are getting real popular too though, good laptops but over-hyped IMO. Oh yea BTW Vista is wack. Not a bad OS.. but its not a huge improvement. Linux pwns all. I like Ubuntu.

http://bensbargains.net/deal/39691/
or http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=bqdwk3d&cs=04&dgvcode=ss&c=US&l=EN&m_8=80S

here's a deal I thought some of you might like.

Includes 2MP Integrated Webcam.

Core 2 Duo T5470 1.6GHz CPU, 15.4" WXGA LCD, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, 8x DVD+-RW

10/100 + 56k + 802.11g, GeForce 8400M 128MB, 56WHr 6-Cell Battery, 1-Yr Warranty

Upgrades? TrueLife Screen +$0, 802.11n Card +$49

And the price right now, as of 8-27-07, is $599. I would jump on this but i have a year left until college and the deals will definitely be better next year. But to the college students now I think this is a great deal.

the most common laptop i've seen around campus is the Dell Inspiron E1505 [last school year].

i'm one of those people

The desktop quality is much better, as everyone knows. It's very interesting that the standard monitor size will be in the 20" range.

hP was pushing a sexy 24" combo for about $1500, and so was Gateway.

whatcha think about laptop hp pavilion dv2000?

I looked into the HP pavilion dv2500t for the longest time and was about to get it. Good processor speed+(with upgrade) 2gigs memory and up to 200gigs of hard drive make it out to be a pretty economical choice. I ended up getting a dv6426us for a lot less (and a worse processor), but because of the price, this probably won't be my lap top through all of college.

MacBook Pro

ordered an inspiron 1520 from dell, supposed to get it the 25th though so its a little late, i hope it doesn't get delayed
