I have a 14-inch G4 iBook and am finishing up my first year here at Cal. I absolutely love it, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever because of it. It's easy to use, gives you all the functions you need, and it just looks sexy.

The only problem I could find is this: if you're an engineer, it'll be tough since so many programs are optimized for PC. Also, if you want to play the popular computer games, you won't be able to join your friends since most of them aren't Mac-compatible. Outside of that, you can't go wrong with an iBook...they're cheaper than PowerBooks and just as good, in my opinion.

I know your set on a MAC but if you compare what you are getting in a PC as compared to a MAC, you will see that MAC's are generally over priced.

I love PCs. There's no reason why I would get a mac. I play all those PC games, and I download like mad. I don't see how I would survive with a Mac.

The only reason I even consider a Mac is so that I will prevent myself from gaming at school and so I can focus on work. Bringing my laptop to the library right now to "work" really just turns into disaster. Then again, web surfing works both on PC and Mac =(

My S bought a 15 inch Powerbook from the cal student store his first week last fall. He's had one problem which required him taking to the Apple store in Emeryville to get repaired. It was a relatively painless repair experience.

"If you're NOT a current Berkeley student, and NOT already using a Macintosh laptop at Berkeley, please remain silent, and see if anyone who meets these requirements responds, okay?"

Why don't you go research yourself? Google is a good tool.
