My sister had to wait for 2 months for Dell to replace her motheroard. now, her keyboard is falling apart but that is much easier to fix.

christalena2,

The whole A75 series was plagued with problems. Mine was the same way.

oy vey!

And be proud, it took me around 5 minutes to find where the model number was...

I am definitely going for mac...this pc will be a burnt marshmallow after this year. What stinks even more is that Circuit Cty (where we bought it and where we have a warranty) weren't able to backup any files off my hard drive (hard drive right?), so now all my music/pictures/files will be lost...

Are there any other stores besides Circuit City that I could try for a low price?

Low price? For an Apple?

Buy it when you're a student and get the discount. Apple doesn't have to really put things on sale...

^^ no, I mean to get my files baked up.

Ive been working the past few summers to buy a new something (originally a dig. camera...now a laptop), so I can afford most computers that are middle-range.

macbook pro 17"

the 17" will be really tough to lug around.

im going to make the switch this year to mac just because im sick of my pc. i know that i need a new computer for college next year soo i will probably be buying a 15" macbook pro this summer before school starts up. im very excited :)

i dont have time to learn how to use a mac...thats a disadvantage

you don't need time. honestly, i used to be a pc person. it took literally 5 minutes to figure out how most things work.

actually the best laptops out there are vaios (especially if you can get a custom order, like I did), but after that is the alienware/voodoo tie, with dell rounding out the top three,

ibms, asus, acers, whatever suck

DSoke,

Thinkpads (IBM/Lenovo) consistently outperform Sony brand laptops in customer satisfaction ratings.

What makes you say that they suck, other than fanboyism?

aren't we all just apple fanboys at heart? ;)

I like my MacBook Pro, but I'm definitely willing to accept that the Thinkpad has a lot of quality/dollar.

UCLAri, I've meant to ask you- what does the IR/PS in your location stand for?

International relations and Pacific studies...just my grad school's name...

The amount of misinformation and poor advice in this thread is sickening. I'll refrain from any opinions and offer this advice: get something cheap; you usually don't need the bells and whistles. Also, don't trust people.

Slorg,

Grace us, if you may, with an example of misinformation. If you don't counter any of it, then you really aren't helping anyone out as they can't know what is and what isn't true.

Cheap may not be better in the long run. Both of my cheap laptops were plagued with problems. The Toshiba had to have the HD replaced along with the mobo replaced twice. Paying an extra $500 for a system that won't have down time is worth the money, especially for someone who relies on the laptop to always work.

Mac Book Pro 15.4'' , baby!!
