which laptops are good for college students?

Maybe time to say goodbye to your old trusty powerbook? as much as it's difficult, you'll fall in love with your next macbook/macbook pro. And before you go crazy on me with "The screen broke! I'm not getting another mac!!!" um if you dropped a dell or HP it would have shattered into pieces. Those powerbooks and especially the new macs are built like tanks.

My birthday is coming up soon and I am planning on buying a MacBook. The laptop will be the one I use for college starting next fall.

Should I go for it and buy it now or wait in the summer just before heading off to get it? Basically, would I be missing out on future updates?

toshiba satellite....i dont see why people like macs so much

upoh: Wait till the summer. Apple will probably come out with Leopard by then and they have educational discounts as well. There might be some hardware enhancements. There is a rumor going around about a 15.4" Macbook.

aarosurf: maybe because you haven't tried them out yet

I don't care for the 15-incher, particularly. How good are the discounts given to Tiger users when updating to Leopard?
