I have letters secured from my better teachers, a former employer and my cousin, who is a US Congressman. Although the Congressional recommendation seems prestigious, he doesn’t know me all that well. Would I be better off not sending in his letter? Thanks for any help.

From many of the college info sessions I have attended, they said that you should send a recommendation from the person who knows you best and not send a recommendation because a person has some flashy title.

Anyone else run into a similar problem?

well I'm not sure how seriously they would take a letter from your cousin. He is after all, your cousin, and would probably say good things about you no matter what. They also generally dont take into account letters of recommendation from "celebrities" etc. bc they assume that they dont know you very well.
