Which looks better for college admission: State AP Scholar or National AP Scholar?

I know AP National Scholar sounds better, cuz it's 'national', but from the descriptions of each, State AP Scholar seems much harder to get.

State AP Scholar

Granted to the one male and one female student in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia with scores of 3 or higher on the greatest number of AP Exams, and then the highest average score (at least 3.5) on all AP Exams taken.

National AP Scholar

Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

AP: Scholar Awards

State AP Scholar has a much more restricted population that can win.

State AP Scholar.

National AP Scholar is simply an award for taking a lot of AP exams. Colleges probably don’t care if you’ve taken 7 vs 8 AP’s (the latter receiving the “national AP scholar designation”) since the scores alone speak for themselves (rather than the recognition).

On the other hand, state AP scholars usually have upwards of 15 AP exams, and nearly enough AP credits to enter as a senior when they attend college.

To my knowledge, almost nobody (if no one at all) will receive the State AP Scholar award by the end of the junior year - usually only seniors receive the award. And by the time the seniors receive the award, they have already submitted applications, been accepted into college, the whole shebang.

Since State AP Scholar is more competitive and fewer people have it, it’s better. But both are worth listing.
