Which looks better?

A 90 average in mostly honors/AP classes or a 95 in all regular classes with 1 honors/AP?

This might sound stupid but it really annoys me that some of my friends will technically be ranked higher than me without ever taking one honors whereas I've been taking a full honor courseload since freshman year.

What's even worse is that Cum Laude at my school (or maybe all schools, I don't really know) is not based on what classes you take, it's purely numerical average.

Rant, sorry, but which would an Adcom rather see?

I think admissions officers would prefer a 90 average in mostly honors/AP classes, as it shows you took "the toughest courses possible" at your school. However, if the universities you are applying to have admissions heavily based on ranking and SAT's scores, my choice may be slightly off. (e.g. state universities) Though, if you took AP/honors, it'll be a better push towards Honors..

this is why many schools are dropping ranking

do you not have weighted gpas?
