I am applying to Rutgers New Brunswick with the intent of studying to go to med school but i was a little confused as to what major to choose.

At first I had biological/life sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences, but then I also saw a pre med choice under the same school.

There is also biological science under the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and I am unsure about what major to choose to best fulfill a pre med track.

There really is no pre med major. Most students who enter medical school are biology majors (one of the tougher majors). you’re entrance to med school relies greatly on your tests after college. hope that helps a little

Thanks but i was just wondering which major i should choose on the application. The biological sciences major in the school of arts and sciences or in the school of environmental and biological sciences?

Or the pre med choice listed under the same two schools stated above?

Well, it depends whether you want to be in SAS or SEBS. I’m pretty sure SEBS is considered a more specialized school and would probably be harder to get into.

All things considered, you can major in absolutely anything ranging from Theology to History to Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and still go to med school as long as you take the required classes and have the necessary grades and whatnot. Don’t forget you also wont be declaring a major until the end of your second year most likely, so you’ll be considered undecided until you declare a major. As far as I know, there is no pre-med major at Rutgers.

What I’m saying here is pick whatever you want and are interested in!
