And how do you intend to utilize that degree upon graduating college or university?

hmm...i have no idea...probably something science-y or i have no idea. if i'm not in science, I'm basically screwed and i have NO ideas

Metal and Jewelry arts with a possible minor or double major in Japanese. I have no idea how I could combine the two, but I'll figure out something. I hope to hold a career in the jewelry field somewhere down the line. The Japanese would be more for personal interest. I feel that it is extremely important to have knowledge of at least one other language and I have always been interested in Japanese language and culture. Having a degree or a minor in it would just give me credibility I think as well as help me get future jobs.

Social Studies/ History Ed --> teach jr. high/ high school history (I want my fresh & soph. year history teachers job or something similar)
Ag. Business --> work for one of the top Ag. companies out there like John Deere or Cargill or AgriGold. It'd be cool to be a sales rep. that goes to all of the different ag/ trade shows.
Not really sure beyond that, maybe law.

I want to major in linguistics. I have a real passion for learning languages and also a grammar freak., I like comparing the grammar of one langauge to another and see how it's built, blah, blah, blah.

I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with it. Perhaps a froegin language teacher in high school, or an ESl teacher outside the country, or an interpretor or translator. Honestly, any of these careers appeal to me.

IMHO, it's best to declare a no-pref major and knock out your basic university requirements in your first year of college (and take a few electives too that interests you). This is a lot better than declaring a major and then realizing later on that you want to major in a completely opposite subject.

Also, you will more than likely change your major, so don't be so worried about what major to declare in your freshman year.

I'm currently looking at math, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics.

Oh yeah, and I'll probably change my mind.

I'm going to major in Athletic Training and exercise science. Also, I hope to get a teaching certificate. I want to teach American History and Physical Education.

Get certified by NATABOC and possibly get a Masters in exercise science while working at a regional university. Then, I'd like to teach at a high school teaching American History in the morning and spending the afternoon working in the the athletic department either helping with weight training or in the athletic training room.

I really have no clue. At all. My school doesn't really have any gen. requirements so I might design my own weird little "core" before I declare a major.

It's probably going to be...English and Creative Writing. What I'd do with that, I have no clue.

Or something like Politics and History...with which I'd accept any job, although I'd see myself more in like lobbying and campaigning, public policy, much more than like being a politician. I'm sure a great amount of you all shiver at the thought of me in politics, I know.

History... which offers hardly any job opportunities unless you want to teach (and I definitely don't). But I also plan to attend grad school for library sciences, and I think history would be a good "stepping stone." Plus I'm a total history nerd and I figure that for undergrad you might as well study something you enjoy.

Graphic Design or Marine Biology or maybe both. :D

Chem and Linguistics, with a minor in math if I go to a school that likes to take transfer credits.

medicine :D.....i'm really into that sort of thing + science and math=AMAZING!!! english and history= TORTURE!!!!

i might double major in economics and software engineering
yay for my computer geekyness and love of money!

I'm going to keep an open mind about my major -- if I feel like changing it, I will. But I think I'm pretty sure. I've been doing what I do for four years now and never get tired of it. It's my passion and I'm almost positive that this is really what I want to do with my life.

I am thinking a double major in Biology and English, because I enjoy analyzing literature, and I could read for days on end. I also enjoy writing as well--any type. On the other hand, I really love science and math, and I think I'm very good at them. Rather than give something up, I'd rather indulge myself.

I think I'll have a lot of marketable skills when I leave college. At least, I hope so.

SilverandJade:
Where are you planning on applying? I love fashion and jewlery design, but I want to keep my options open for sociology/anthroplogy, but I can't seem to find many universities that offer design along with a wide range of other majors.

I was thinking about a medical major..only for financial security. But I really want journalism or creative writing.

Econ for sure. And a business minor. My mom thinks I'll be unemployed after I graduate, but who cares. I'm going to make sick coin on wall street. Screw what she thinks. She wants me to do engineering, engineering's oversaturated with Asians, and it's so boring. And I failed physics.

alamode -- Here's my list so far. There are others out there, this is just what I've narrowed it down to:
RIT
Temple
U of Iowa
U of Washington (Seattle)
Syracuse
East Carolina U
U of Michigan
U of Massachusetts (Dartmouth)
Kent State

Good luck with your search!
