I am going to UCF in the fall. I want to go straight to grad school to get my masters in aerospace or mechanical engineering and a PHD in propulsion systems. I want to work in propulsion systems for missiles or something. Should I get my undergraduate degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. UCF doesn't offer aeronautical engineering so many of the aerospace classes are for space technology. I am not particularly interested in space programs due to the cut in government funding for space programs. Which major will be more useful for what I aim to do?

You can still do aerospace engineering. I don’t know this for sure but aerospace engineering also deals planes and stuff like that. I really don’t know for sure. But you should research more into it.

the problem im having with looking at the courses ucf requires for the aerospace engineering degree is that most of them are for space flight concepts. I was wondering if mechanical engineering (maybe an energy systems specialization) would have more relevance to propulsion systems?

Any opinions?
