<p>Start witb a Music Ed degree. It can be hard to find a Conducting degree at the undergraduate level. In Music Ed you’ll have the opportunity to learn different instruments. Depending on the program, you may be able to specialize in primary or secondary grade levels. But in our school district, many middle school music teachers also teach at the elementary or high school level.</p>
<p>If you get a bachelor’s in Music Ed, teach for a few years and then go on for your master’s, you’ll be in a good position to direct the more elite groups that you mentioned.</p>
